London is a city best understood from above. Its viewpoints range from Victorian columns and royal parks to glass towers.
Historic viewpoints
Climb the 311 steps of the Monument, the galleries of St Paul’s Cathedral or Tower Bridge’s high-level walkways for views with history.
The towers
In the City, the Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street and Horizon 22 on Level 58 of 22 Bishopsgate offer sweeping views by timed booking; across the river, The View from The Shard is the highest of all.
From above, London’s jumble of streets suddenly makes sense.
Hills and parks
Primrose Hill, Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath and Greenwich Park’s Observatory hill give classic skyline views from the grass.
Bars with views
GŎNG on Level 52 of The Shard, Duck & Waffle on the 40th floor of 110 Bishopsgate and Bokan in Canary Wharf combine a drink with the view.
Our advice: book the Sky Garden or Horizon 22 for a weekday morning, then watch the sunset from Primrose Hill or Parliament Hill.
