A garden in a ruined church
About St Dunstan-in-the-East
St Dunstan-in-the-East was a medieval church, repaired after the Great Fire, when Sir Christopher Wren added its tower and spire. It was badly damaged in the Blitz in 1941 and never rebuilt; instead, the City of London turned the ruin into a public garden in the 1970s. Today ivy and trees climb the old window tracery, a lovely quiet corner between Monument and the Tower.
