From Chelsea Bridge, follow the Chelsea Embankment west past the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea and the walls of the Chelsea Physic Garden. Beyond, Cheyne Walk is lined with elegant 18th-century houses whose residents have included writers and artists over the centuries, and houseboats are moored by Battersea Bridge. Return across the Albert Bridge, especially lovely when it is lit at night, and through Battersea Park. Allow about an hour and a half.
