Apsley House, at Hyde Park Corner, was the London home of the first Duke of Wellington after his victory at Waterloo, and was known as Number One, London. Run by English Heritage, it displays his collection of paintings by Velázquez, Goya and Rubens, the silver and porcelain given by grateful European rulers, and Canova’s colossal nude statue of Napoleon. Hyde Park Corner station is beside it.
