The George Inn
London’s last galleried coaching inn

The George, rebuilt in 1677 after a fire, is the last galleried coaching inn in London, and is owned by the National Trust. Its wooden galleries look onto a cobbled yard where coaches once arrived, and inside are low-beamed, wood-panelled rooms. Charles Dickens knew it well. It is run as a pub, a short walk from Borough Market. London Bridge and Borough are the nearest stations.
