The Grapes is a slender pub on the river at Limehouse, its back windows and small terrace hanging over the Thames. Charles Dickens knew it and drew on it in Our Mutual Friend, and today it is co-owned by the actor Sir Ian McKellen. The upstairs dining room serves seafood and pub food. Limehouse station on the DLR is a short walk away. Its small size means it fills up quickly, especially on summer evenings.
