About Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station, with its four white chimneys, was designed in part by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and generated electricity from the 1930s until 1983. After decades of uncertainty it reopened in 2022 after a major restoration, its turbine halls filled with shops, restaurants and offices, and new homes built around it. Lift 109 takes visitors up inside the north-west chimney. It has its own Underground station on the Northern line and an Uber Boat pier.

Why it's on our list

  • Grade II* listed
