One Canada Square, designed by Cesar Pelli, was completed in 1991 as the centrepiece of Canary Wharf. At 235 m and 50 floors it was the tallest building in the United Kingdom for 21 years, until The Shard was completed in 2012, and its pyramid roof is visible across London. Canary Wharf station on the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines is next door.
