Moorfields Eye Hospital, founded more than 200 years ago, is a specialist NHS eye hospital on City Road, near Old Street station. Its A&E department is open 24 hours a day for eye emergencies only; it is not a general emergency department. For other emergencies, call 999 or go to a general A&E. The hospital’s website explains its other contact options, including a nurse advice line with set opening hours. Overseas visitors may be charged for some NHS treatment.
