Start at Notting Hill Gate and walk down Pembridge Road to the top of Portobello Road. Follow it north past the antiques dealers, the colourful terraces and the food and vintage stalls (busiest on Saturdays), with detours to Blenheim Crescent for Books for Cooks and to the elegant streets around Ladbroke Grove. The communal garden squares are private, for residents only. Finish near Westbourne Park or at the Museum of Brands.
