From Putney Bridge, the Thames Path runs west along the Putney Embankment, lined with the boathouses of rowing clubs; the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race starts here each spring. Across the river, Bishop’s Park and the gardens of Fulham Palace line the north bank. Continue towards Barnes and Hammersmith, or cross Putney Bridge and walk back through Bishop’s Park. Riverside pubs such as the Duke’s Head make good stopping points.
