About Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court Palace was begun by Cardinal Wolsey in the 1510s and taken over by Henry VIII, who made it one of his favourite palaces; later, Sir Christopher Wren added Baroque wings for William III and Mary II. Visitors explore the Great Hall, the Tudor kitchens, the royal apartments, the formal gardens and the famous maze. It is run by Historic Royal Palaces; trains from Waterloo run to Hampton Court station, across the bridge.
