Battersea Park opened in 1858 on the south bank of the Thames, opposite Chelsea. It has a boating lake, sub-tropical gardens, a riverside promenade with the Peace Pagoda, sports facilities and a children’s zoo. Battersea Power Station is a short walk east. Battersea Park and Battersea Power Station stations are a short walk away, or cross the Albert or Chelsea bridges from Chelsea. Boats can be hired on the lake in summer.
