About Black cabs and ride-hailing
Licensed black cabs can be hailed in the street when their orange-yellow TAXI sign is lit, or found at ranks at stations. Drivers have passed the famous Knowledge test of London’s streets, fares are metered, and cards are accepted. Ride-hailing apps and licensed minicabs also operate, but minicabs must be booked, never picked up in the street. Rounding up the fare or tipping around 10% is common.
