At 18 Folgate Street, the American artist Dennis Severs created a “still-life drama”: each candlelit room of this 18th-century house is arranged as if its imagined family of Huguenot silk weavers had just left, with half-eaten meals and smouldering fires. Visits are by booked timed ticket and largely in silence. Liverpool Street station is a short walk away.
