Gordon’s has served wine on Villiers Street since 1890. Its candlelit, low-vaulted cellars, the walls yellowed with age, are wonderfully atmospheric, and in summer the big terrace by Victoria Embankment Gardens fills up. Order wine at the bar with a plate of cheese or charcuterie; it does not take bookings for small groups. Embankment station is opposite and Charing Cross a few steps away.
