Tate Modern opened in 2000 in the former Bankside Power Station, facing St Paul’s across the Thames. Its collection runs from Picasso, Matisse and Rothko to the art of today, and the huge Turbine Hall hosts large commissions. The viewing level at the top of the Blavatnik Building has views across London. Major exhibitions are ticketed. Southwark and Blackfriars are the nearest stations.
