Hatchards has sold books on Piccadilly since 1797, and its Georgian shop, with wooden staircases and creaking floors, is a pleasure to explore. It holds royal warrants, and is known for its signed first editions and knowledgeable staff. It is next door to Fortnum & Mason. Green Park and Piccadilly Circus stations are a short walk away. Ask about signed copies of new books.
