Claridge’s has welcomed royalty and celebrities on Brook Street for well over a century, and its Art Deco interiors, chequered lobby floor and sweeping staircase make it one of London’s most glamorous hotels. Afternoon tea in the Foyer and Reading Room is a classic, and the bars include the intimate Fumoir. It is part of the Maybourne group. Bond Street station is a few minutes’ walk away. Its website lists its restaurants and Claridge’s Spa. Its history goes back to the 1850s, when William and Marianne Claridge took over an existing hotel on Brook Street and gave it their name; the present building, completed at the end of the 1890s, was enlarged with Art Deco interiors in the 1920s and 1930s.
