Borough Market, beside London Bridge and Southwark Cathedral, has roots going back a thousand years, and its Victorian iron-and-glass halls are packed with stalls of fruit and vegetables, cheese, meat, fish, bread and street food. Come hungry, ideally on a weekday morning before the lunchtime crowds. Some stalls close on Mondays; check the market website for hours. London Bridge station is a few minutes’ walk away.
